“One test of the correctness of educational procedure is the happiness of the child.”
-Dr. Maria Montessori
LAMB has been identified as having high standards of performance. For the ninth year in a row, we achieved Tier 1 status based on the DC Public Charter School Board’s (PCSB) rankings. This Tier 1 ranking is based on the results of the School Quality Report, the PCSB’s annual tool for assessing and monitoring charter school performance. You are welcome to read our latest School Quality Report and our transparency documents (budget information, reports, board minutes, among others) at the DC Public Charter School Board’s website.
One of the most important ways we measure our impact is the percentage of families who choose to return to our school every year. Last year, 94.4% of our students re-enrolled.
In addition to achieving Tier 1 status, LAMB has won various awards and recognitions of excellence, including:
2019 School Choice Leadership Award from the National School Choice Week
2017 Josephine Baker Award for Charter Excellence for Tier 1 Achievement and Highest Growth Elementary/Middle School from the DC Public Charter School Board (PCSB). That year, the PCSB ranked us #1 among all elementary charter schools in DC.
2015 Academic Achievement Award from FOCUS (Friends of Choice in Urban Schools)
2015 Special Achievement Award from FOCUS (Friends of Choice in Urban Schools)
2012 Model Early Childhood Education Program from UnidosUS (formerly the National Council of La Raza)
Our success is the result of the hard work and dedication of all members of our community: students, families, and staff. Together we support teachers so the can provide our students the best learning environment possible. Our Montessori trained teachers have years of experience as teachers and as Montessorians. They are skilled educators who share their knowledge with educators around the country. For example, in 2020, LAMB teachers and administrators presented five sessions at The Montessori Event, the world’s largest Montessori conference.
